Live cattle higher ahead of On Feed and Cattle Inventory numbers

At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live cattle were higher, and feeders were mostly lower watching corn and waiting for direct business to develop.  August live cattle closed $.05 higher at $181.32 and October lives closed $.17 higher at $183.72.  August feeder cattle closed $1.20 lower at $246.80 and September feeders closed $.67 lower at $249.32.

It was a quiet Wednesday for direct cash cattle business.  The lone bid to surface was in Nebraska at $291 dressed – that’s quite some distance from Wednesday’s asking prices in the North at $295 dressed.
