A director with the Michigan Department of Agriculture says the state hasn’t stopped exploring ways to expand dairy processing with the latest plant announcement.
“We’re going to keep pushing for more processing in the dairy sector, and other sectors as well here in Michigan.”
Peter Anastor leads Michigan’s agricultural development division. He tells Brownfield about 25 percent of Michigan’s milk production is currently being shipped out of state for processing which caused dairy farmers to lose more than $160 million last year.
