More countries interested in US ethanol

Biofuels groups continue their work expanding market access for US ethanol.

Kelly Nieuwenhuis, President of the Iowa Corn Promotion Board, tells Brownfield he’s heading to Brazil very soon on an ethanol trade mission with the U.S. Grains Council. “They just recently dropped their tariffs against US ethanol,” he said. “A few years ago, they were our number one export market. We’re looking forward to going back, getting in touch with them, and trying to get that trade opened up again.”

Monte Shaw with the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association says there’s also market potential in Japan.
