Gary McDowell has been named as the incoming director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development by governor-elect Gretchen Whitmer.
McDowell is a partner in McDowell Brothers Farm and McDowell Hay, Inc. in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. He also served more than 20 years on the Chippewa County Board of Commissions and six years as a state representative.
Executive director of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs Daniel Eichinger will serve as director of the Department of Natural Resources.
