Ohio Farm Bureau priorities for 2019

Water quality will continue to be a priority for Ohio Farm Bureau in 2019.

Yvonne Lesicko, vice president of public policy for Ohio Farm Bureau, says farmers are focused on combating algal blooms in the Western Lake Erie Basin.

“In terms of actual practices on farms, getting the research done, and figuring out what they can do with the acreage they have,” she says. From a legislative perspective, what should be mandated versus what could be out there in terms of incentives and to help farmers take on some of these more expensive practices.”

She says the organization has already met with incoming Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and is looking forward to working with the administration on agricultural priorities.
