Producer sentiment is down

Trade concerns continue to impact
producer sentiment, according to the latest Purdue University/CME Group Ag
Economy Barometer.

Purdue University’s Jim Mintert says 26 percent of farmers
surveyed, up from 10 percent in November, expect ag exports to decline in the
next five years.

“The 26 percent is significant because that’s the largest percentage of people that forecast a decrease in ag exports over the next five years since we first asked that question over a year and a half ago,” he says.
