A Wisconsin farmer says the rain and sloppy snow from about a week ago helped his dry topsoil. Tony Mellenthin raises corn and soybeans near Menomonee and tells Brownfield the unusual weather patterns brought welcome moisture. “So Sunday into Monday, we got some rain and again, we’re dry enough where the soil is taking it in good but I think that’s really alleviated any concerns.”
Mellenthin says there was no frost before the unusual weather arrived, he’s seen very little runoff so the rain and snow soaked into the ground where it’s needed.
