Snow, cold hinder Wisconsin harvest effort

The race to get Wisconsin’s crops harvested continued last week, with weather interruptions, stuck equipment, some soil damage, and high corn and soybean moisture levels.

USDA reporters say some areas near Madison had eight inches

of snow, while three to five inches of snow were common to the east.  Soil conditions are reported as wet or very

wet statewide.  The snow shut down

soybean and corn harvesting for a couple of days.

Corn was 83% mature last week, and 62% was good to excellent.  The harvest of corn for grain is 88%

finished.
