Across the Corn Belt, below-normal temperatures have returned, following last week’s adversely hot conditions. At the height of the heat wave, from July 25-29, the western Corn Belt experienced as many as 5 consecutive days with maximum temperatures ranging from 95 to 105°F. Early Tuesday, showers and thunderstorms are overspreading parts of the western Corn Belt, providing some relief to pastures and summer crops.
On the Plains, extreme heat continues across much of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, where Monday’s high temperatures will broadly reach or exceed 100°F.
