ABERDEEN, S.D. — The Aberdeen Police Department is warning residents about fraudulent mailings that falsely appear to be from the department and request donations.
Police said the mailers are not affiliated with the department, which does not solicit donations through mailed forms. Residents are urged not to send money or provide personal or financial information if they receive the mailing.
Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the Aberdeen Police Department.
Those who believe they responded to the fraudulent mailing or may have been victims of fraud should contact dispatch at 605-626-7911.
Police are also asking residents to share the warning to help prevent others from being targeted.
