Explosion in Huron Leads to Molasses Fallout, Firefighters Respond to Sticky Situation

At around 4:30 a.m. on Monday morning, the Huron Fire Department responded to an explosion on the west side of town involving a rail car filled with molasses.

Firefighters discovered rapid ventilation of the molasses, leading to its fallout on US Highway 14, Old Highway 14 East, and as far south as 3rd Street and Lincoln Avenue Southwest.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but one building suffered damage.
