A structure fire at the 4500 block of South Canyon Road in Rapid City resulted in one fatality on Thursday.
The Rapid City Fire Department responded to the fire after a passerby reported smoke coming from the attic. Firefighters encountered hoarder-like conditions inside, making it challenging to extinguish the fire.
The identity of the victim has not been released, and there are no signs of foul play.
The investigation is ongoing, and no first responder injuries were reported.
