Ron Rivett, the founder of Super 8 Motels and My Place hotels, has died at the age of 83.
According to a death notice from Carlson Funeral Home, Rivett passed away on December 9 at the Baptist Medical Center in Miami, FL.
Described as a passionate husband, father, entrepreneur, and outdoorsman, Rivett opened the first Super 8 Motel in Aberdeen in 1974.
Arrangements for his passing are currently pending with Carlsen Funeral Home & Crematory.
