Maverik, the Utah-based retailer, is set to retire the Kum & Go brand by 2025, ending over 60 years of Krause family ownership.
The decision follows Maverik’s acquisition of the Iowa-based chain with approximately 400 stores.
The move is driven by Maverik’s assessment that its brand resonates more impactfully in its markets compared to Kum & Go in the Midwest.
The decision also aligns with Maverik’s plans for multi-regional brand growth.
The Krause family, focusing on other interests, including Italian vineyards and a soccer team, facilitated the deal.
The Kum & Go brand will be replaced by Maverik in certain regions, marking a new phase for the Utah retailer.
