MITCHELL, S.D. — The Mitchell Planning Commission approved three conditional use permits for family residential day cares and advanced several development-related plats during their meeting on July 27.
Commissioners unanimously recommended conditional use permits for Rachel Hoesing at 421 E. 15th Ave., Ann Jons at 1108 Sunnyside Court and Amie Thompson at 922 University Blvd.
Each permit includes conditions that it is non-transferable, requires a new application if the business is inactive for more than six months and remains subject to a successful fire inspection.
Thompson and Jons have already completed fire inspections, while Hoesing has one scheduled.
The commission also approved several plats within Mitchell’s extraterritorial jurisdiction and city limits.
Among them was a plat for Enclose Manufacturing Inc. and Claseman that combines existing property with newly acquired land south of the business into a single parcel. Commissioners were told the existing access easement meets fire department requirements.
The commission approved a plat for Van Buskirk Homes LLC that consolidates existing lots into one parcel for a planned residential development.
City planning staff said the developer intends to build six homes as part of a planned unit development, with the lots to be replatted once the PUD is approved. The project also includes widening an adjacent alley right-of-way by four feet.
Commissioners also approved plats for Carolyn Moe, Schuman and Millan Land Trust, and Firesteel Links LLC. The Moe and Enclose Manufacturing plats will also require review by Davison County because they are located within the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction.
The commission approved a site plan for Titan Machinery, 2800 W. Havens Ave., allowing the company to construct an addition to its existing building. Planning staff said the expansion will be built over an existing gravel parking area and is not expected to affect site drainage.
The meeting adjourned after approximately 13 minutes with no other business or public input.
