Mitchell’s initiative offering $1,000 for relocation to fill full-time positions has succeeded in reducing job openings.
Launched by the Mitchell Area Development Corporation last fall, the program attracted new residents and reduced job openings to 566 from October’s 619.
Due to its success, an additional $25,000 in funding has been provided for the program, which restarted in March.
The program was complemented by a virtual job fair hosted by the Development Corporation and the South Dakota Department of Labor.
