Activists gathered at the Pennington County Administration Building on Tuesday to call for the resignation of State’s Attorney Lara Roetzel, citing a perceived lack of justice for Native Americans, particularly in the controversial plea deal related to the hit-and-run death of a 14-year-old Native American child.

Approximately 30 protesters voiced their concerns on the fourth floor, emphasizing the need for accountability in the criminal justice system.

Roetzel defended the plea deal, citing new evidence, while protesters argue that it undermines justice for the victim and the Native American community.

Jordan Hare, the defendant in the case, faces a sentencing hearing on December 18. Despite the demonstration, no arrests were made at the administration building.
