Rural Mail Carrier Injured in Western South Dakota Accident, Mail Scattered Across Pasture

In an incident reported by the Meade County Sheriff’s Office in western South Dakota, a rural mail carrier veered off the road and flipped their vehicle multiple times on Monday morning.

This led to mail being strewn across a pasture as a result of the crash.

The driver, who was not using a seat belt, sustained injuries that, although significant, were not life-threatening.

The driver was airlifted to Monument Hospital in Rapid City for treatment.

Upon ensuring the driver’s stability and medical care, a collaborative effort involving deputies, local ranchers, and U.S. Postal Service personnel was initiated to gather the scattered mail from the accident site.
