A 37-year-old man from Sioux Falls was arrested by the Sioux Falls Police Department for assaulting a 29-year-old woman with a hammer and attempting to strangle her.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon at a residence on W 26th St.
Another individual present managed to intervene and disarm the suspect.
The assailant faces charges of aggravated assault and has additional warrants, including resisting arrest, simple assault on a law enforcement officer, and charges related to sex offender registration.
