South Dakota Farmer with History of Harassing Women Receives Six-Month Jail Sentence

Greg Farrar, a 70-year-old farmer from the Hurley area with a history of stalking and harassing women, has been sentenced to six months in jail for having sexual contact with a Freeman woman without consent.

Farrar, who was first convicted in 1998, recently entered an Alford plea.

The sentencing, presided over by Judge Patrick Smith, involved testimony from the victim and a law enforcement officer.

While his defense sought a suspended imposition of sentence, the judge imposed 365 days in jail with 185 days suspended, contingent on specific conditions, and ordered Farrar to turn himself in by 5 p.m. CT on Monday, December 11.
