A pedestrian walking along SD Highway 123 died after being struck by a vehicle near Wilmot early Sunday morning.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety reported a 20-year-old male was walking in the southbound lane of SD Highway 123 around 1:25 am when he was struck by the 19 year old female driver of an SUV also in the southbound lane. The driver was taken into custody for DUI and has other charges pending.
The names of the people involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
