A man from Arizona convicted of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance was sentenced to more than 21 years in prison.
The US Attorney’s office reported in 2025, 38 year old John Parrado conspired with other people to obtain fentanyl and distribute it in South Dakota. He received much of his supply from out of state through the U.S. mail. Ultimately, Parrado was personally involved in the distribution of 400 grams of the drug in the state. A federal grand jury indicted him in September 2025. He pleaded guilty on January 5, 2026. Sentencing took place on July 20th.
Parrado was immediately remanded to the custody of the US Marshal’s service to begin serving his sentence.
