City plans to lease Main Street property to Mitchell Area Development Corporation

The City of Mitchell is looking to lease the former Northwestern Energy Building at 514 North Main to the Mitchell Area Development Corporation. The City Council will consider a resolution to do so at its Monday meeting and set the date for a public hearing.

Development Corporation executive director Mark Vaux says the plan has been discussed for several months. “It’s a great lease space potential to do some interior remodeling, hopefully get somebody in there relatively soon,” said Vaux. “Get it occupied and bring some jobs to downtown Main Street Mitchell.”

He says he’s had conversations with a few different prospects from time to time over the last few months regarding it and other available properties with mixed interest.

The City of Mitchell purchased the property from Northwestern Energy after the utility re-located to a new office facility on South Burr Street last year.
