MITCHELL, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan University crowned its homecoming royalty Monday night during Coronation. Logan Amundson, of Watertown, and Wyatt Voelker of Newcastle, Wyo., were named the DWU homecoming queen and king for 2020.
Logan Amundson, Watertown, is majoring in psychology and minoring in family studies with a concentration in counseling. She is captain of the DWU cheer team and serves as a student ambassador. Amundson is a member of the psychology club and serves as senior class president. She is a Christian Leadership scholar and a graduate of Watertown High School. She is the daughter of Wally and Gayle Amundson.
Wyatt Voelker, Newcastle, Wyo., is a wildlife biology major. He is a member of Student Ministry Council, Chemistry Health and Other Sciences (CHAOS) club, McGovern Engagement Group and the conservation club. Voelker is a graduate of Newcastle High School and is the son of Ryan and Donna Voelker.
DWU also crowned its 2020 beanie queen and king – a title bestowed on two freshmen who have already made an impact on the campus community during their short time at DWU and have embraced DWU’s values of learning, leadership, faith and service. Julia Sanderson, of Sioux Falls, and Terance Burrell-Schroeder, of Creighton, Neb., were named this year’s beanie queen and king.
Julia Sanderson, Sioux Falls, is a biology major. She is a member of the DWU volleyball team and the CHAOS club. Sanderson is a graduate of Sioux Falls Christian High School and is the daughter of Joel and Nicole Sanderson.
Terance Burrell-Schroeder, Creighton, Neb., is a criminal justice major. He is a member of the DWU football team. Burrell-Schroeder is a graduate of Creighton Community High School and is the son of Terance Burrell and Thelma Schroeder.
The following were also candidates for homecoming queen:
Hannah Bowes, Omaha, Neb., is majoring in digital media and design with a concentration in marketing and graphic design. She is a member of the DWU women’s soccer team. Bowes is an active member in Student Ministry Council at DWU and serves as an Elisha intern through the Elisha Project, started by the Dakotas Conference of the United Methodist Church in collaboration with Student Ministry Council. She also serves as an assistant resident director and assists the DWU marketing department through work study. Bowes is a graduate of Omaha Westside High School and is the daughter of Tim and Jen Bowes.
Kindra Clark, Garretson, is majoring in secondary English education. She is a member of the DWU women’s soccer team. Clark serves as a student ambassador and is a member of Future Teachers Organization and Delight Women’s Group. She also lends her time as an English tutor in the DWU Academic Success Center. Clark is a graduate of Garretson High School and the daughter of Doug and Tana Clark.
Sara Herman, Reliance, is majoring in math education. She is a member of the DWU volleyball team. She is also a member of the math club and Future Teachers Organization. Herman is a graduate of Lyman High School and is the daughter of Keith and Beth Herman.
Chaydon Metzger, Larchwood, Iowa, is an elementary education major. She is a member of the DWU volleyball team as well as Future Teachers Organization. Metzger is a graduate of West Lyon High School and is the daughter of Clint and April Metzger.
Claire Stoller, Madison, is an elementary education major. She is a member of the DWU track team. Stoller is also a member of Student Ministry Council, Student Senate and Future Teachers Organization. She serves as a Big Friend mentor for Big Friend Little Friend in Mitchell. As a junior, Stoller served as a resident assistant as well. She is currently student-teaching in Parkston this semester. Stoller is a graduate of Madison High School and is the daughter of Mark and Hope Stoller.

Bradley Dean, Pierre, is majoring in business marketing and minoring in history. He is a four-year member of the DWU men’s basketball team and a two-year member of the DWU baseball team. He is also a member of the DWU business club. Dean is a graduate of Pierre T.F. Riggs High School and is the son of Greg and Jill Dean.
Edgar Meza, Spearfish, is majoring in wildlife management. He is a member of the DWU men’s soccer team. He serves as a resident assistant as well as the public relations officer for the conservation club. Meza is a graduate of Spearfish High School and is the son of Jorge and Sonia Meza.
Devin Rihanek, Plankinton, is majoring in psychology. He is a member of the DWU track and cross-country teams. He is a member of the psychology club, Athletic Student Association, and Lost & Found, a mental health awareness club on campus. Rihanek is a graduate of Plankinton High School and is the son of Greg and Evette Rihanek.
Hayden Schmidt, Plankinton, is a digital media and design major. He is a member of the DWU football team. Schmidt is a graduate of Plankinton High School and is the son of Justin and Bonnie Schmidt.
Layne Stafford, Arlington, Neb., is an accounting major. He is a member of the DWU baseball team. He is also a member of the business club and serves as a student ambassador. Stafford is a graduate of Arlington High School and is the son of Tim Stafford and Kandi Hill.

Brooke Bullington, Brookings, is a nursing major. She is a member of the women’s soccer team and the CHAOS club. Bullington is a graduate of Brookings High School and is the daughter of Mark and Tammy Bullington.
Audrey Koesters, Omaha, Neb., is majoring in psychology and theatre. She participates in theatre and is a member of Student Ministry Council and sings for the Wesleyan Choir and Highlanders. Koesters is a graduate of Millard West High School and is the daughter of Julie Oesterle and the late Rob Oesterle.

Ruslan Rogers, Flower Mound, Texas, is a criminal justice major. He is a member of the DWU men’s soccer team. Rogers is a graduate of Coram Deo Academy and is the son of David and Elizabeth Rogers.
Alex St. Gelais, Glenrock, Wyo., is an athletic training major. He is a thrower for the DWU track and field team. St. Gelais is a graduate of Glenrock High School and is the son of Glenn St. Gelais.
