Dakota Wesleyan University has unveiled its newest major: Computer Systems Technology. It’s a dynamic program that bridges technology, business and communications.
Fredel Thomas is Vice President of Admissions & Marketing. “The number one program that Dakota Wesleyan was asked for that it didn’t have was something in computers,” said Thomas. “And I say it that way on purpose because a lot of students aren’t sure exactly what they would like to do in computers. And so, birthed computer information systems.”

She says students will learn both the technical aspects of the computer information world along with the “soft-skills” part. “Project management, AI, some even design types of things so that that person can go to their employer being a well-rounded individual,” Thomas said.
Thomas says Mitchell has an incredible “tech sector” that needs these students.
Computer Systems Technology is set to launch in the Fall of 2026.
