Davison County Sheriff Steve Brink(r) reads Life Savers Award to Corrections Lieutenant Connie Harr(l) and her husband Chief Deputy Steve Harr(c) for rescuing two women from a house fire in December.

Brink says they both went above and beyond their normal duties. “His (Steve Harr) is not to run into a smoke-filled burning building, but he did it anyhow,” said Brink. “Same way with Connie (Harr)…she went in to help save a life.”

Life Saving Medal presented to Davison County Chief Deputy Steve Harr and his wife Corrections Lt. Connie Harr.

He believes the Harr’s actions averted a potentially fatal outcome. “We would have had a fatality, at least one that day,” Brink said.

The couple responded when they heard on their scanner the fire was two-doors down.

The Harr’s entered the smoke-filled home and found the two occupants, an elderly woman in a wheel-chair and her adult daughter struggling to get out. Both were checked out at the scene and were OK.

Family, friends and colleague attended the ceremony in the County Public Safety building.
