Dirt’s been turned on a new housing project in Mitchell. Jordan Hefner is operations manager for Van Buskirk homes. He helped introduce Hitchcock Homes by Van Buskirk.
“The home site we’re standing in front of right now will eventually be a 1,200 square foot single-family slab-on-grade unit with a two-car garage,” Hefner said. “We have 12 of those units going in on this site and then the adjacent two sites will both be 1,100 square foot seven-plex townhomes.”
Hefner is a Mitchell native and was familiar with the area that was once a mobile home park north of Hitchcock Park.
“I was instantly interested,” said Hefner. “We’ve been building and managing property in the Mitchell area for 35 years and we’ve been looking for a natural next step to be more involved in the community.”
Each unit takes between 100 to 120 days to complete. Hefner says they hope to complete all the new units over the next three years.
