James Valley Drug and DUI Court recognizes its latest graduates

James Valley Drug and DUI Court celebrated two graduates to start the new year.

Judge Donna Bucher said between them, Alan R. and Bradley J. have 1096 sober days, paid more than $2,500 in fines and costs, attended 388 support group meetings, gone to treatment and participated in mental health counseling. “We feel confident that they have the tools that they need to be successful,” said Bucher.

Alan R. said it changed him for the better. “I can walk with my head up,” said Alan. “I can be strong. I don’t have to be ashamed.”

Bradley J. credited the support he received. “It’s a whole community that, when you feel alone, you can go to,” Bradley said. “You know, one of the guys I know I’ve known for 30 years. I’m so glad to see you. I’m so glad.”

James Valley Drug and DUI Court’s mission is to provide community-based rehabilitation through intensive treatment and supervision to stop the cycle of repeat offenses and substance use disorders. The program aims to create safer communities and reduce the costs of correction.
