The Mitchell School Board has hired Joe Childs interim superintendent of the Mitchell School District. Childs currently serves as principal of Mitchell High School.
Board president Deb Olson says the group interviewed three candidates for the position that became open when Dr. Joe Graves accepted the position of South Dakota Secretary of Education.
Childs assumes his new duties on Tuesday, January 17th. His salary has been set at $140,000 prorated for 248 days for the remainder of the school year.
The board Thursday also interviewed two professional search firms as it begins the process of hiring Graves permanent replacement.
