Mitchell High School commencement speakers offer words of encouragement to their classmates

Each year Mitchell High School’s graduating seniors selected two commencement speakers. And 2026 was no exception.

Katie Hohn encouraged her classmates to move forward using life lessons learned from the Disney Pixar movie “A Bug’s Life”. “So go forward from this place with intention, with courage, and the quiet confidence of something that knows exactly what it’s made to become,” Hohn said “Take root, stand tall, and change every space you’re given.”

Kambyl Wede reminded her classmates to build on past experiences. “Not just the big moments, but the small ones that made us who we are,” Wede shared. “Because those are the ones that will carry us into whatever comes next. And the futures we are walking into, they might be big, but remember that they started on these small moments.”

The class of 2026 consisted of 196 members including 61 honor students and 17 highest honor students.

The annual commencement exercises were held at the World’s Only Corn Palace
