Mitchell Public Library announces re-opening plans

The Mitchell Public Library will re-open to the public on Tuesday, May 26 with limited hours.  The shortened hours of operation will be Monday- Friday from 10:00 AM- 4:00 PM; and Saturday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.  The opening hour of 10:00 AM- 11:00 is reserved for high risk individuals.  The Library will expand the curbside pick-up hours to Monday- Friday from 2:00 PM – 5:50 PM and Saturday from 2:00 PM – 3:50 PM.

Patrons visiting the library will notice that several changes have been made to help ensure the safety of the public as well as library staff.  Entrance to the facility will be limited to the west door.  Children under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult, and patrons are asked to limit their visit to the library to 30 minutes or less.  Computers are available by appointment only, and use will be limited to 30 minutes. Newspapers and periodicals, as well as the teen room, book sale room, archive room, and community room will be unavailable to the public at this time.  The library asks that patrons follow social distancing guidelines and not visit the library if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

These changes will allow library staff to follow proper cleaning recommendations as well as comply with quarantine recommendations for books and other materials handled by the public.  By implementing these changes, we can now make the library available to the public; however, the public is still encouraged to utilize the online services and curbside pick-up for library materials as well.
