Monday’s Mitchell School Board meeting featured an unusual twist as the group closed out business for the 2024-2025 school year. However newly elected board member Kimberly Lofgren was involved in a two-vehicle collision around noon Monday. She was shaken up yet ready to take her place on the board. “I’m very excited, it feels good,” said Lofgren. “I’m excited to get to work and do the best for the Mitchell School system.”
A motion was made to delay the meeting but failed on a tie vote as board member Shaun Ruml was absent.
The first part of the meeting proceeded, with unanimous approval of the agenda and former board member Deb Olson departing.

The second part of the meeting began with administering oaths of office to board members Aslesen and Lofgren along with new Business Manager Craig Breuning.
The members present nominated Brittni Flood and Terry Aslesen for president. However the election ended in a tie vote for president thus putting business manager Bruening presiding. The leadership election was postponed until the first meeting in August.
The board has scheduled a special meeting on Friday to award bids on the GBR roof repair as well as some personnel items.
