Mitchell School Board applauds the efforts of student artist’s success

It’s one of the most anticipated and uplifting Mitchell School Board meetings of the year. During Tuesday’s meeting the board hosted its annual recognition of student artists who earned Blue Ribbons at the South Dakota State Fair.

High School Art Teacher Marica Shannon thanked the board for its continuing support of student art. “It’s a highlight for us as teachers to share in the pride we take in our students in the work they create,” Shannon said. “We appreciate you parents as well for supporting you children in their artistic endeavors.”

This year Mitchell High School placed second overall and the Middle School earned first-place.

Each student artist was recognized individually and also included some from the elementary level.

Board president Brittni Flood told the group this is one of favorite nights of the year.
