Mitchell School Board approves base bid on new High School project

The Mitchell School Board voted 4-1 Tuesday to accept the base bid of $45,618,901. Board members Britni Flood, Deb Olson, Shawn Ruml and Matt Christiansen voted yes, Terry Aslesen voted no.

The base bid includes the main high school building but leaves out the alternates  including the main gym, locker rooms, weight room and other athletic amenities.

Aslesen moved to reject all bids and put a bond issue before voters. His motion was rejected, however the board will discuss a $20-million dollar bond issue at its meeting on February 13th.

This was Dr. Joe Graves last official meeting as Superintendent as he recently became South Dakota Secretary of Education.
