Mitchell Technical College hosted the Mitchell School Board as part of its annual facilities tour.
MTC President Theresa Kriese appreciated the opportunity. “So having them on campus, getting them exposed, giving our students and our faculty an opportunity to be in front of them has been great,” said Kriese.
The board got a taste of what’s going on at MTC including an opportunity for a group of business and accounting students to visit New York City. “It fits right into their curriculum because they have to fundraise, they have to track their money, they have an experience and there has to be an educational component of it,” Kriese said.
The second was a study and trial through the USDA. “It showcases research that we can actually do at a two-year institution, which most people think of only four-year institutions doing that,” Kriese continued. “So it’s a wonderful way to let our board understand that we do more than just teach. We actually get some practicing in as well.”
In other business the board approved the consent agenda, placed a policy regarding fund-raising on first reading, as well as first-reading of proposed school district goals and met in executive session followed by a tour of MTC.
