The Mitchell School Board took a deep dive into policy series 1000-1200 as part of its annual review. Superintendent Joe Childs says it’s critical for the board to stay up to date on policies.
“There’s definitely language changes, there’s definitely clarification needs to happen, and of course, there’s codified law that we need to make sure that we’re in line with,” said Childs. “And so, if you don’t go through these policies, then you’ll miss something, and so it’s critical that that happens,” he said
Policies will go up for second reading and adoption during September’s school board meeting.
Childs says the first four days of the new school year went well, however he’s concerned about enrollment.
“We were anticipating a decline in enrollment, and I’m hoping with every ounce of me that I’m wrong,” Childs said.
Official enrollment numbers are determined in late September. The next school board meeting is set for September 14th at L.B. Williams Elementary School.
