For the 41st consecutive year the Mitchell United Way reached its annual campaign goal. This year’s campaign raised $451,299, a $1,299 cushion.
Campaign Chairman Mark Spitzenberger says it was a collaborative final push. “Kind of went through a list of previous donors that we hadn’t heard from yet,” said Spitzenberger. “Brainstorm of other people that might be willing to participate and contact them. That’s really what put us over the top.”
Board president Ken Schlimgen recognized recently retired Executive Director Dave Stevens for his service. “He has held that position since 2007,” Schlimgen said. “Over that time frame, Dave has raised, or been behind the fund-raising campaign, to raise $7-million dollars for our organizations.”
The United Way also recognized Scott Kaiser as its volunteer of the year, Vern Eide as its business of the year and its member agencies.
