Mitchell woman among those killed in a two vehicle crash last Tuesday in Charles Mix County

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety has released of the four people who died last Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash west of Wagner.

A 2003 Chrysler Sebring was southbound on South Dakota Highway 50 and failed to stop at the intersection. It collided in the intersection with a 2008 Jeep Cherokee which was westbound on South Dakota Highway 46.  The Chrysler went into the south ditch and started on fire.

The four occupants of the Chrysler had to be extricated. The driver, 31-year-old Agnes Drapeaux of Mitchell, S.D., and two passengers, 28-year-old Michaela Rainbow of Lake Andes, S.D., and 33-year-old Milton LaRose of Omaha, NE, were transported to a Wagner hospital where they were pronounced dead. The fourth occupant, 27-year-old Lawrence Thunder Horse of Lake Andes, S.D., suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and was later flown to a Sioux Falls hospital.

Lynette Ashes of Wagner, S.D., the 64-year-old driver of the Jeep, was pronounced dead at the scene.

None of the people involved in the crash appeared to be wearing seat belts.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
