Mitchell’s Chief of Public Safety has resigned

Mitchell Public Safety Chief Glen Still has resigned. That’s the word from Mayor Bob Everson. “We will miss him in that position, he did a wonderful job,” said Everson. “He did a really good job for us while he was here.”

Still replaced long-time Public Safety Chief Lyndon Overweg after serving on the Fremont, Nebraska Police Department for 33 years. There’s no word on where he’s headed next.

Everson says Assistant Police Chief Mike Koster will oversee the Police Department and Assistant Fire Chief Marius Laursen will lead the Fire Department and EMS. Both will report to the Mayor and City Administrator Stephanie Ellwein.

Everson says he’s unsure at this time which direction the city will take in seeking a replacement. Still’s resignation is effective immediately.
