Authorities have released the names of two people involved in a single vehicle fatal crash last Friday evening 10 miles southwest of Alexandria.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety reported shortly after 8pm, 31 year old Andrew Michael Wipf was driving Dodge Dakota pick up westbound on SD 42 near mile marker 311 while pulling a trailer loaded with lumber. He lost control of the trailer while going down a hill. The Dodge entered the north ditch, rolled, and became separated from the trailer. His passenger, Andrew J. Wipf was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. Andrew Michael Wipf was taken to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell with minor injuries. Neither were wearing seatbelts.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is leading the crash investigation which is ongoing. All information released is preliminary.
