We’re learning more regarding a three-county pursuit that started in Davison County Tuesday afternoon.
A news release from the Mitchell Police Department says on Tuesday, at approx. 2:52 p.m., a Davison County Sheriff’s Office employee attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a stolen 2012 Chevrolet K2500 pickup in rural Davison County located to the southeast of Mitchell City limits. The vehicle was reported as stolen from Lincoln County. The vehicle did not stop and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit was terminated a short time later.
The suspect vehicle then drove to Mitchell and collided with another vehicle on Spruce St. in the area of Menards.
The suspect drove to the area of Spruce St. and Rowley St., got out of the vehicle and allegedly attempted to steal another vehicle by pulling a female driver from her vehicle, but was unable to do so.
The suspect got back into the stolen vehicle and drove to the 1400 block of S. Main St. where he fled from the vehicle on foot.
As the investigation continued Tuesday afternoon it was discovered that 1 residence and garage, and 1 separate garage located in the area where the suspect left the stolen vehicle were entered, and that a white sport Utility vehicle was stolen. The white colored S.U.V. was located in Huron. A red Ford Mustang was then stolen from Huron. The driver of the Ford Mustang was arrested in Sanborn County after the vehicle crashed into a Sanborn County Sheriff’s Office vehicle. He was identified by the Sanborn County Sheriff’s Office as 38 year old Brandon Scott of Brookings who had outstanding warrants from Minnehaha County.
This matter is under investigation. The crimes that occurred in Mitchell, Huron and Woonsocket appear to be related. Criminal charges are also expected in Davison County regarding the crimes that occurred in Mitchell regarding this incident.
