A popular event for youngsters during the Pre-Sturgis Party is the strider-bike obstacle course. For the past several years Strider Bike has partnered with Klock Works to furnish 25 bikes to an area school district.
Beth Victor is the Pre-K through 12 principal at Plankinton. “I filled out a grant for the ‘all kids bike” program,” said Victor. “And then I received notification that Klock Works here in Mitchell had chosen our school as a recipient.”
She and three teachers staffed the obstacle course during the evening. Victor is grateful for the donation. “I think it’s huge for our school,” Victor said. “It’s surprising how many kids don’t know how to ride bikes anymore with all the e-scooters and e-bikes and everything being motorized.” She says it’s great for the youngsters yo work on their balance prior to riding a bike with pedals. Victor added, “some of our kids don’t have that opportunity.”
She says the bikes will arrive at the school in September.
