A 34 year old woman from Brookings died Monday in a two-vehicle crash near Sisseton. The South Dakota Department of Public Safety reported around 3:35 pm, the 52 year old male driver of a GMC Sierra was traveling northbound on I-29 while pulling a 48-foot header trailer. At the same time, the driver of a Honda Ridgeline was also traveling northbound. The Sierra switched into the passing lane and the Honda collided with the GMC’s trailer. The driver of the Honda sustained fatal injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt. A 13 year old female passenger was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt.
I-29 was closed for approximately four and a half hours.
The investigation is ongoing. Names of the those involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
