SD Attorney General Marty Jackley touts interagency cooperation in successful anti-drug operation in Davison County

Attorney General Marty Jackley is crediting interagency cooperation that led to indictment of nine people involved with a cocaine trafficking network in Davison County. “This is about local law enforcement, of course the Mitchell Police Department, the AG’s office, and the DCI working with them to really crack and bring down a cocaine network involving nine individuals”, said Jackley. “Three of the individuals are allegedly not here lawfully.”

He called it, in his words, “a significant take-down.” “When you’ve got nine individuals, there’s about 1.18 pounds of cocaine involved,” Jackley continued. “So this was serious and it was important for us to get this off the streets and out of the community of Mitchell.”

Jackley signed the 287(g) agreement with the federal government to allow DCI to help arrest undocumented individuals who have committed violent crimes or are involved in drug dealing. He says his office will continue to work with federal authorities on such cases.
