MITCHELL KERNELS
— Mitchell Kernels volleyball hosts No. 2 O’Gorman on Thursday at 7 pm for Senior Night. The KORNer Booth pregame show starts at 6 pm on KORN News Radio FM 101.3/AM 1490 and KORNRadio.com. Mitchell is currently seventh in Class AA seed points with a 15-7 overall record. The Kernels have lost back-to-back matches for the first time this season as they end the season facing three straight top five teams.

DAKOTA WESLEYAN
— Dakota Wesleyan volleyball is the No. 4 seed in the GPAC Tournament and will host No. 5 Dordt on Saturday at 7 pm. The Tigers split both meetings with Dordt this season. DWU won 3-0 at Dordt on Oct. 29, while Dordt defeated the Tigers 3-2 in Mitchell back on September 17. The winner advances to the semifinals on Wednesday, likely against No. 1 seed Northwestern.

— No. 9 ranked Dakota Wesleyan women’s basketball travel to Seward, Nebraska, to face MidAmerica Nazarene on Friday at 2 pm. The Tigers opened the season with an 81-43 victory on Tuesday vs. Bismarck State.

— Dakota Wesleyan men’s basketball will be at Hannibal-LaGrange (Missouri) on Saturday at 3 pm. The Tigers are 2-0 on the season after an 82-62 win on Tuesday night vs. Bismarck State.

— Dakota Wesleyan football hosts Midland on Saturday at 1 pm. The Tigers are 4-5 on the season and 3-5 in the GPAC after a 44-41 overtime win last Saturday at Mt. Marty.

SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
— South Dakota State men’s basketball host Dakota State on Thursday at 7 pm. The Jackrabbits opened the season with a 75-66 win vs. Merrimack on Monday at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls.

— South Dakota State volleyball will be at North Dakota State on Thursday at 7 pm. The Jackrabbits enter the week at 18-3 on the season with a perfect 12-0 mark in the Summit League. SDSU is one win away from clinching at least a share of the Summit League regular season title for the third time in school history and for the second straight season.

— South Dakota State women’s soccer travels to Tulsa on Thursday to face No. 2 seed Denver at 1 pm. No. 1 Oral Roberts faces No. 5 Kansas City at 7:30 pm.

— South Dakota State women’s basketball host Rice on Friday at 7 pm. The Jackrabbits opened the season with a 78-62 win at Creighton on Monday.

— South Dakota State football, 7-2 on the season, will be at USD next Saturday at 3 pm on ESPNU.

SOUTH DAKOTA
— USD men’s basketball lost at No. 23 Creighton on Wednesday night 92-76. Isaac Bruns led the Yotes with 16 points. Crieghton has five players in double figures. The Coyotes, 0-2 on the season, host Ozark Christian College on Sunday at 1 pm.

— USD volleyball hosts Omaha on Thursday at 6 pm. The Coyotes are 16-8 overall on the season and 8-4 in the Summit League. Head coach Leanne Williamson is on the verge of making Summit League history as she sits just two wins away from becoming the conference’s winningest coach. Williamson enters this week with 247 career wins and 145 Summit League victories.

— USD women’s basketball host Air Force on Friday at 11 am. The Coyotes opened the season on Monday with a 104-33 win over York (Neb.).

— USD football hosts SDSU on Saturday at 3 pm at the DakotaDome. The Coyotes defeated No. 8 North Dakota last Saturday 26-21. USD is 6-4 on the season and 4-2 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

NBA
— NBA staff members have met with congressional staffers to discuss the league’s relationship with sportsbooks. This comes after federal indictments of Miami guard Terry Rozier, Portland head coach Chauncey Billups and others last month. The meeting, held Wednesday, did not include NBA Commissioner Adam Silver or any sitting members of Congress. Senators have requested information on the NBA’s gambling policies and why Rozier was cleared to play after sportsbooks flagged unusual betting patterns in a March 2023 game. Rozier was accused of conspiring to help associates win bets based on his performance.

— OG Anunoby scored 25 points and Jalen Brunson added 23 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds as the New York Knicks spoiled Anthony Edwards’ return to the Minnesota Timberwolves’ lineup with a 137-114 victory. Edwards scored 15 points in 29 minutes after missing four games with a strained right hamstring.

— Deni Avdija had 26 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists as the Portland Trail Blazers erased a 22-point deficit in a 121-119 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. It’s the first loss of the season for OKC after an 8-0 start. Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 35 points.

— Luka Doncic had 35 points, 13 assists, nine rebounds and five steals as the Los Angeles Lakers rallied in the fourth quarter before surviving the final second for their fifth consecutive victory, 118-116 over the San Antonio Spurs. The Lakers finished the game on a 21-10 run.

— Nikola Jokic had 33 points, 16 assists and 15 rebounds for his fifth triple-double of the season as the Denver Nuggets defeated Miami with a 122-112 win over the Heat. It was Denver’s 11th straight regular season win over the Heat.

— Russell Westbrook posted his NBA-record 204th career triple-double in Sacramento’s 121-116 win over the Golden State Warriors. Westbrook had 23 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists for his first triple-double with the Kings.

— Jaylen Brown scored 35 points as the Boston Celtics shook off a double-digit first-quarter deficit to beat Washington 136-107 and send the Wizards to their sixth straight loss.

— Donovan Mitchell scored a season-high 46 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers pulled away in the second half for a 132-121 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

— Cade Cunningham scored 19 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter as the Detroit Pistons won their fourth straight, beating the Utah Jazz 114-103. Jalen Duren added 22 points and 22 rebounds for the Pistons, which improved to 6-2.

— Amen Thompson had 28 points and 10 rebounds, while Alperen Sengun added 20 points and 16 rebounds as the Houston Rockets defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 124-109.

— Michael Porter Jr. had 32 points and 11 rebounds as the Brooklyn Nets claimed their first victory of the season in a 112-103 road win over the Indiana Pacers.

— Saddiq Bey had season highs with 22 points and nine rebounds to lead the New Orleans past Dallas 101-99.

MLB
— The Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays in 11 innings in Game 7 of the World Series Saturday night averaged 51 million viewers combined across the United States, Canada and Japan. It is the most-watched game since Game 7 of the 1991 World Series between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves. Last Saturday’s game averaged 27 million on Fox Sports.

— Detroit pitcher Jack Flaherty and Toronto pitcher Shane Bieber exercised their player options for 2026 rather than become eligible for free agency. Nine more players became free agents Wednesday, raising the total to 162. Teams must decide by Thursday whether to make a $22 million qualifying offers to their eligible former players who went free.

— Alex Ovechkin became the first to 900 career goals, scoring against the St. Louis Blues 2:39 into the second period.
