Sioux Falls man sentenced for federal drug offense

A 42 year old man from Sioux Falls is sitting in a federal prison following his conviction of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. Kyle Heinemann was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. For several months in 2024, Heinemann served as a sub-distributor for a California and Nevada based drug trafficking organization which transported large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl from California to South Dakota and distributed it in the Sioux Falls area.  Heinemann purchased methamphetamine from the organization, which he then re-sold here.  Approximately 10 pounds of methamphetamine was attributed to Heinemann at sentencing.

A federal grand jury indicted him for Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance by a federal grand jury in May 2025.  He pleaded guilty on March 2, 2026 and was sentenced last week.
