Sioux Falls police are investigating the deaths of two 80-year old residents that happened Saturday morning.
They answered a call for a stabbing and gunshot wound shortly after eight am.
Sgt. Cole German says officers arrived at the scene within minutes and found Sandra Swier, who had died of a gunshot wound to the head. “This was a contained incident. There were no signs of outside nefarious activity,” German said. “These individuals were married to each other.”
German added there were no signs of a struggle, disagreement or fight at the scene.
They later found her husband Thomas, who was seriously injured from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Thomas Swier died of his injuries later after being transported to a hospital.
Police say there’s no risk to the public.
