Three people received minor injuries when a small fire started while contractors were working inside the Oahe Dam Powerhouse north of Pierre and Fort Pierre Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, Public Affairs Office told DRG Media News that as a precaution, one of the three people injured was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Out of respect for their privacy, further details about the individuals involved are not being released at this time. The cause of the fire is under review.
The spokesperson said this incident has not affected the dam’s structural integrity, and it remains safe and fully operational. She said updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
