Three South Dakota law enforcement organizations request Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg resign from office

The South Dakota Fraternal Order of Police, South Dakota Chiefs’ of Police Association and the South
Dakota Sheriffs Association are unified in requesting Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg resign as South
Dakota Attorney General.
Ravnsborg’s involvement in the death of Joe Boever on September 12th have resulted in a lack of
confidence in his ability to effectively carry out his duties as the chief law enforcement officer in South
Dakota.
We are not commenting on the pending criminal case or impeachment process as we recognize his right
to due process.
The South Dakota Fraternal Order of Police represent the rank and file which includes all levels of law
enforcement and many different local, county, and state agencies.
The South Dakota Sheriffs’ Association is comprised of all 66 county sheriffs offices and provides
networking and training for sheriffs across South Dakota.
South Dakota Police Chiefs’ Association members consist of a majority of the Police Chiefs and
Command Staff from Police Departments in the state.
