Two fatal motorcycle crashes at opposite ends of the state

A 29-year-old man died in a single vehicle motorcycle crash Monday evening two miles east of Sioux Falls,

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety reported preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 near mile marker 401 around 11pm. The motorcycle left the road to the right and entered the south ditch, crashed into a fence and separated the driver from the motorcycle. The driver passed away at the scene from his injuries. He was wearing a helmet.

Earlier Monday evening a 22-year-old man died in a single vehicle motorcycle crash Monday evening 10 miles south of Spearfish.

Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2014 BMW motorcycle was traveling on US Highway 14A near mile marker 21 around 6:30 pm local time and failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The driver lost control and left the roadway down into a wooded embankment. The driver became separated from his bike, sustaining fatal injuries. He was wearing a helmet.

The name of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating both incidents.
